CREAMA marks 30 years of collaboration and service in the Marina Alta region.

Calp hosted yesterday the gala celebrating the 30th anniversary of the creation of CREAMA (Consortium for the Economic Recovery and Activity of the Marina Alta), an event that brought together institutional representatives, technical staff, and members of business associations and organizations from across the region.

The event began with a speech by Carlos Pastor Ventura, provincial deputy and president of CREAMA, who stated:
“Today we celebrate three decades of joint work, public service, economic revitalization, and proximity. CREAMA has stood by the people, structuring the region by embracing diversity—beyond political colors and ideologies. This is a project driven by people, and that’s what makes it unique.”

CREAMA’s general manager, Rosario Donderis, added:
“We’re celebrating 30 years, and we’ve proven that we’re no longer a utopia, but a real and tangible presence in the Marina Alta—helping people integrate into the job market, supporting business growth, and connecting people with projects, making possible the small miracle of reaching agreements every day.”

The gala featured several discussion panels revisiting the history and evolution of the Consortium through personal testimonies from CREAMA’s staff, users, and partner entities.
Lola Orihuel, general manager of CREAMA from its foundation until 2015, recalled:
“When we held meetings and saw politicians from different parties and such diverse municipalities, I thought we’d never reach agreements. But everything turned out to be very easy because there was a genuine willingness to make it work.”

Ana Sala, mayor of Calp and current president municipality of CREAMA, emphasized:
“We have come to realize that only by working together can we improve the well-being of our businesses and our people—by strengthening regional cohesion and building a network that has allowed us to grow.”
She also announced that the governing board has agreed to award this year’s 'Jaume Pastor i Fluixà – 9 d’Octubre' prize to CREAMA.

The event concluded with a speech by Toni Pérez, president of the Alicante Provincial Council, who highlighted CREAMA’s innovative nature:
“Thirty years ago, some were already speaking of the goals now outlined in the 2030 Agenda. They were betting on building a common project of territorial cooperation and institutional efficiency—putting people at the center of our action. Politics is meaningful when it helps people grow, and that is the powerful message that CREAMA offers us today.”

In its three decades of activity, CREAMA has achieved impressive figures:

Over 700,000 people assisted

€73 million managed (over €5 million from European funds)

85 regional development projects implemented

A network of 9 local agencies (Dénia, Xàbia, Calp, Teulada-Moraira, Benissa, Gata de Gorgos, Pego, Pedreguer, and now again El Verger, which has rejoined the network)

Yesterday’s event was a tribute to commitment, networked collaboration, and a shared vision for regional development—and to the people who, over the past 30 years, have made CREAMA a benchmark in local progress, built on solidarity and mutual trust.

Exhibition: “Llúria. Lords and Ladies of the Land”

The Alicante Provincial Council, through the MARQ – Archaeological Museum of Alicante, the MARQ Foundation, the Banco Sabadell Foundation, and the municipalities of Calp and Cocentaina, is proud to present the exhibition:
“Llúria. Lords and Ladies of the Land”, commemorating the 720th anniversary of the death of the Calabrian-born nobleman Roger of Llúria, Grand Admiral of the Crown of Aragon, who passed away in January 1305, and Saurina d’Entença, who died in 1325.
Their legacy is still visible today in the historical and monumental heritage of two key municipalities once under the influence of the House of Lauria: Calp and Cocentaina.

“Llúria. Lords and Ladies of the Land” explores the key milestones in the lives of Roger of Llúria and his second wife, Saurina d’Entença, while also highlighting the material culture preserved in the region. The exhibition aims to promote awareness of these two historical figures and their impact on the evolution and development of both towns.

The exhibition will be held in two venues:

In Calp, it will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 8, at 10:30 AM, at the Casa de Cultura “Jaume Pastor i Fluixà”. It will remain open throughout July and August, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with free admission.

In Cocentaina, the exhibition will be on display from October 2025 to October 2026 at the Exhibition Halls of the Palau Comtal.

Curated by José Luis Menéndez Fueyo, MARQ technician and director of the archaeological excavations at the medieval site of Pobla de Ifach, and a specialist in the medieval period, the exhibition is coordinated in each location by Amparo González Martínez, Head of Culture for the Calp Town Council, and Elisa Domenech Faus, curator at the Municipal Museum Palau Comtal of Cocentaina.

The exhibition design is the work of the award-winning architecture studio Ángel Rocamora Arquitectos and is supported by the Banco Sabadell Foundation.
