🔹The Regional Minister for Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez, visited Calp this morning to officially inaugurate the facilities of Marina PortBlanc. Accompanied by the Mayor, members of the Town Council, and representatives of the concessionaire company, he toured the facilities of the new marina.
🔹Construction work on the Puerto Blanco Marina began in September 2023 and included major maritime engineering works, such as dredging the inner harbour basin. These highly complex operations were carried out in dry conditions, requiring the construction of a temporary dam at the harbour entrance to prevent seawater from entering, while dewatering pumps operated 24 hours a day.
🔹The rock breakwater was reinforced with the placement of around 20,000 tonnes of large boulders, as this area had been particularly exposed during storms. In addition, a gate was installed at the harbour entrance to reduce the strong wave action inside the marina basin.
🔹The new marina features a land area with promenades, commercial premises, restaurants and parking facilities. It also includes a water surface of approximately 10,000 m², providing more than 150 berths for jet skis and boats up to 15 metres in length.
🔹The Puerto Blanco beach has also been regenerated, allowing this small stretch of coastline to gain around 700 square metres of additional beach area.
The project was carried out with a total budget of €9,349,042.

🌊 Calp Town Council conveys its position on the municipality’s fish farm to the European Parliament.
🇪🇺 Calp Town Council member Marco Bittner participated last week in Brussels as a speaker at the round table "Carnivorous Aquaculture: Eating up the Ocean, Threatening Food Security", held at the European Parliament headquarters as part of Ocean Week 2026. Bittner was the sole representative from a local administration, sharing the panel with MEP Emma Fourreau, French MP Anne Stambach-Terrenoir, and researcher Marine Cusa.
🐟 During his speech, he presented Calp as a municipality with a hundred years of tourism tradition and a centuries-old connection to the sea. He warned that the authorized expansion of the fish farm located off its coast increases its initial capacity fourteenfold, reaching 45 cages and 3,000 metric tons per year. He presented data from the 2024 environmental monitoring report and cited a study by the University of Alicante estimating potential losses to the local economy between 83 and 911 million euros over ten years. -
